The craziness that is Trinidad Carnival kicks off today. Thousands of people fill the island to revel under the hot sun, dance behind a big truck, in the most creative costumes and amongst gorgeous Complexd Women. I’m always so impressed with how immaculate some of the female revelers look while dancing non-stop for the whole day and I just love looking at the beautiful costumes and make-up artistry. If you’re taking part in Trinidad Carnival this year here’s a vital tip from make-up artist Shelley Waldron from neighboring island Grenada.

‘It is so important to keep the skin hydrated in hot and humid climates so skin moisturizer is a must and it also helps to create a nice finish when make-up is applied. I cannot stress the importance of drinking lots of water. If you have oily skin and you want to avoid a sweat shine, have some blotting tissues on hand to absorb excess oil so you’re always looking your best’
Even if you’re not participating in carnival, why not have fun recreating your own carnival look by following this tutorial by Make-up Atelier Paris.
